Unfortunately, due to the approach of Typhoon Khanun, most of the Amami Matsuri events have been postponed or canceled:
  8/3  Enka and Dance Performances – to be held as planned
  8/4  Firework Show – postponed to Friday 8/11
  8/5  Funakogi Boat Races – postponed to Saturday 8/12
     Hachigatsu Odori Dance – canceled
  8/6 MBC Amami Yachabo Sumo Tournament – canceled

The dates for this year’s Amami Matsuri, or the Amami City Festival, have finally been announced! From August 3rd through the 6th, there will be events and celebrations for all ages! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first time in four years the city will see the entire lineup of competitions, music, and dance.

The pictured flier advertising the festival will be popping up around town more and more as the dates draw nearer.
