November 3rd is a public holiday in Japan called Culture Day. Amami celebrated this holiday with performances and a week-long exhibition in the 44th Amami Citizen’s Cultural Festival.
Pictured are some of the pieces exhibited at the Amami Culture Center located in Naze, Amami City. The works included calligraphy, painting, crafts, and photography with submissions from both children and adults.
With a message to “Spread the culture of our hometown!” this year’s exhibition will continue until Sunday, November 6th. Please stop by for yourself and see if you can recognize the themes and culture of Amami depicted!
