Last week Amami Oshima welcomed cruise ships for the first time after two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Nippon Maru traveled from Kobe to arrive at Naze, Amami City on Tuesday 4/12 and the Pacific Venus similarly docked at Naze Port on Friday 4/15. There were approximately 160 and 150 passengers respectively.
While there wasn’t a large celebration due to safety measures, the people working at the Tourist Information Booth spread out and danced to ‘shima-uta’ folk music to give cruise-goers a warm send-off.
