Koniya
Setouchi runs along the southernmost edge of Amami Oshima beside the Oshima Strait, and Koniya community in the center has long been the southern hub of Amami. Koniya Port is the gateway to the cluster of islands further south, which are called Kakeromajima, Ukejima, and Yorojima (and are considered part of Setouchi). Catch live music like the traditional ‘shima-uta’ folksongs, dine in the ever-diversifying culinary scene, or take part in marine sports activities in this bustling area.
