Called ‘tobinya' in the Amami dialect, the strawberry conch is a popular dish to eat when out drinking, as the salty taste pairs perfectly with Amami kokuto shochu (distilled liquor) or a classic beer. To eat the 'tobinya,' remove it from the shell by pulling on the nail that is outside of the shell, and make sure to bite off the nail before you eat it!
