The subtropical forest of Amami Oshima has been preserved over the years here, and the gigantic 'hikagehego,' or Flying spider-monkey tree ferns are some of the iconic plants that are featured in walking tours held in this mystical forest. Kinsakubaru houses Amami's unique plants and animals, some of which are designated as National Natural Monuments. Lucky visitors may encounter some of these species, so keep an eye out for them!
*Kinsakubaru Forest is a part of Amami Gunto National Park, so visitors can only enter with a certified nature tour guide. For more information, please contact the Amami Oshima Tourism & Products Federation at firstname.lastname@example.org
