Amami Museum

Amami Museum is situated in the Nagahama district of Naze, Amami City, and exhibits the distinct history, culture, and nature of Amami Oshima. The first floor is dedicated to exhibits showing the lifestyle of Amami islanders and the impact the Kuroshio Current has had on the island. The second floor focuses on the history of Amami that is similar but distinct from both Okinawa and the Japanese mainland, while the third floor showcases the Amami way of life in the context of the island’s subtropical climate and bountiful nature.
