Ogamiyama

Ogamiyama is a spiritual place for Amami islanders, and it is frequented by locals and visitors alike to this day. In Amami spirituality, mountaintops are places where the gods who protect the communities reside; the gods watching over Naze are believed to be upon Ogamiyama. The path to the overlook at the top is lined with local plants, and lucky visitors may even get the chance to see different species of Amami animals.
